Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen (袁詠儀) has always received attention for her kindness and down-to-earth personality. However, a recent video led to netizens questioning whether the star had some diva tendencies within her.
Last week, the star went on a concert date with husband Julian Cheung (張智霖), watching Taiwanese singer Terry Lin (林志炫) perform on stage. The two were seated in the VIP box – but fans in the hall noted their presence at the concert hall, as the couple even showed off some public displays of affection. However, one fan had the lucky opportunity to interact with Anita whilst the celeb walked about the concert arena.
According to the Xiaohongshu post, the concertgoer was seated in the box room next to Anita and Julien. After waiting for an opportunity to see the stars in person, the fan finally got to meet Anita as she returned to her seat after a bathroom break. In the video, the public figure was seen escorted by a couple of bodyguards but still greeted other concertgoers with a smile.
While the fan praised the actress for her kindness and looks, the post sparked criticism from netizens towards Anita. Some fans mocked her for needing bodyguards to use the restroom. Some even pointed out that other celebrities never needed bodyguards, alluding that Anita is somewhat full of herself. On the other hand, netizens said the bodyguards are just doing their job, including escorting Anita wherever she goes, to ensure the actress’ safety at all times.
Besides the diva claims, netizens also spoke about Anita’s looks and criticised her bare-faced appearance. Many lamented that the 53-year-old looks rather plain without makeup. Some even said she doesn’t look as pretty as she did when she was younger. However, some fans defended Anita, saying she looks good, especially given her age.
