It’s not hard to go viral in Malaysia, especially if you’re selling unique street foods. We’ve discovered multiple hidden gems, but some restaurants, peculiarly homemade ones, don’t stay hidden for long.
Recently, a stall selling Malaysia’s favourite instant noodles, MaggiMalam, blew up on social media platforms for their outrageous prices. However, some netizens have said that it was fair pricing since it included toppings like scrambled eggs and crispy chicken. The vendor has gone viral yet again—this time, for a not-so-good reason.

Curious about the stall’s food handling knowledge, a curious TikTok user commented on one of MaggiMalam’s videos, “Did you attend a food handling course? Have you gotten a typhoid injection?“. However, the owner replied in a passive-aggressive tone, while failing to answer the simple question. The response gained angered comments from online users, with some demanding to know whether they even have the proper qualifications to sell food.
Following the unprofessional reply, people began to feel irked by the owner’s personality and discouraged others from supporting the business. Unfortunately, this issue isn’t the only thing MaggiMalam is facing backlash for. A few days ago, MaggiMalam posted another TikTok which showed them burning egg cartons near their stall. The purpose of the burning was to drive away mosquitoes from the roadside stall. As expected, this action also left netizens with a feeling of distaste.

It’s fair for users to feel this way, especially since other vendors have made it their priority to operate following the proper procedure. What do you think about this? Would you try their food given their unconventional business and marketing tactics?
