Imagine spending thousands or even millions of ringgit to build a shopping mall only for it to be abandoned. If a mall hasn’t been properly maintained for years then we can understand why people choose not to go for safety reasons. You’ll never know when the ceiling of those places might just fall on top of you.
We’ve seen SetiaWalk in Puchong being abandoned despite still being operational. The once lively place on weekends is now a ghost town with little to no activity. People have also said goodbye to Plaza OUG earlier this year but will this mall in Cyberjaya suffer the same fate? Let’s see:

Aqlan Rosli is an entrepreneur who regularly posts business related content on his TikTok. The business owner posted a video recently that’s been getting a lot of attention with over 485.6k views and 1.9k comments. The viral video is of him showing his followers the current “abandoned” state of Malakat Mall, the first Muslim mall which is located not too far from DPULZE Cyberjaya.
In the video, we can see the TikToker saying that the mall remains empty despite being there on a Sunday. “I don’t know what went wrong but it’s just sad to see this happen,” he said. The content creator walks around to show many of the newly renovated shops are just there collecting dust while waiting for customers to walk in.
“This mall has a lot of things to offer. There’s shops, there’s a grocer and you can even come here for Friday prayers. It should be more livelier than this”. Aqlan then walked outside to show the liveliness of its outdoor food court or lack there of. He encouraged his followers to come and support this local mall so that it won’t be abandoned to a point of no return.
Netizens commented on the video with some saying that the mall is too expensive for them to go shopping there while others have given suggestions on what can be improved to attract more attention. A few came up with reasons on why the mall is so empty.
The owner of Malakat Mall, Mohd Fadzil Hashim or Coach Fadsil on TikTok even responded to Aqlan’s video saying that there used to be a lot of shoppers before the lockdown and that they currently have plans to restore the mall to its former glory.
