In this age of technology and social media, one of our biggest concerns is falling victim to hacking and losing all our personal data. If a hacker can easily hack a government website like the Malaysian Immigration Department, then gaining access to someone’s phone is probably child’s play.

Just like in an episode of “Doctor Who”, this TikToker who goes by @imancybersecurity posted a video on his TikTok channel where he demonstrates how he is able to gain access to someone’s personal information on their phone by hacking them through Wifi.

The content creator, who filmed the video nearby the Petronas Twin Towers, started off by introducing a small device in his hand that helps him in his hacking scheme. In the video, the cyberhacker selected a Wifi network for him to clone, which in this case, was a vivo smartphone’s hotspot network.

After selecting the network, a user who was connected to that Wifi will automatically be disconnected where they will then notice multiple versions or clones of the same Wifi when they try to log back in. The TikToker explained that the disconnected user will believe that the password for each of these networks is different, making them select a random clone of that Wifi and manually type in the password.

Once they’re connected, the tech-savvy showed that the hacker will receive the personal information of the user who logged into the cloned Wifi. @imancybersecurity ended the video by revealing the hacking technique he used was called Wifi Phishing or more commonly known as Evil Twin Attack.

Unfortunately, the TikToker did not provide a solution for those who wish to avoid this kind of cyber attack. Netizens reacted to the TikTok post with some thanking the content creator for the informative video while others jokingly asked if it’s possible for them to hack a bank.

Since he didn’t share information on how to counter the cyber attack, we would advise everyone to not connect to any suspicious-looking Wifi or clones of the same network as shown in the video.
