There is no one certain way to achieve success. However, there are a few strategies you can use to reach your financial goals through your EPF, helping you retire comfortably. That said, most people would be open to advice on how to increase their salaries.
This local woman, who works as an accountant, revealed that she now earns a salary of over RM20k after 10 years of experience. Here’s her story:

Earlier this week, the Malaysia Bestie Instagram page, known simply as BESTIE, uploaded a video interviewing a chartered accountant. Much like other street interview videos you might see on social media, the host asked the woman about her current salary. Much to everyone’s surprise, she revealed that she now earns more than RM20,000 after 10 years working in the field.
When asked about her starting salary after graduating, the accountant shared that she earned RM2,800 a month. She further explained that she began her career as an auditor after joining one of the Big Four accounting firms in Malaysia: Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, and Ernst & Young. She mentioned that she enjoys the challenges of dealing with clients and solving their problems. “It gives me a sense of accomplishment,” she said.

When asked what advice she would offer to youngsters interested in pursuing a career as an accountant, the woman said, “You need to study well. As accountants and auditors, we need to be accurate not just with numbers, but also in managing client relationships and demonstrating problem-solving abilities when facing challenges.” The interviewee added that she’s content with her current salary and is focused on self-improvement.
The video then sparked discussion among netizens, with many commending her for her achievements. Others pointed out that starting out at one of the Big Four with a starting salary of RM2,800 after graduating was a significant stepping stone for the woman, as securing employment at any of these firms is already challenging. There were also netizens who lamented that they don’t make as much as the chartered accountant despite working for more than a decade.
