Other than shopping for good food and catching up with friends, you might also encounter street performers at Ramadan bazaars or other markets throughout the year. Some individuals may also ask for donations. Typically, passers-by will leave their contributions in the container provided before continuing on their way.
This isn’t unusual, and it’s certainly one way to make a bit of extra cash. However, no one expected to see this “individual” receiving money for simply lying around on the ground looking adorable.

Yesterday (Thursday, 6th March), TikTok user @/zulkha._ posted a video capturing an unusual sight at a Ramadan bazaar. The video featured a cat, possibly an American Wirehair, napping in the middle of the bazaar before it woke up to groom itself. While the feline was minding its own business, a container was seen placed next to it, filled with RM1 notes.
As the video progressed, more money was added to the container, with visitors of the bazaar seen placing their cash inside. By the end of the video, the cat had successfully collected RM7, based on the amount shown when the uploader approached the adorable animal. “Life is hard,” the caption reads. As expected, any video that features a cat, will very likely go viral.

Netizens reacted to the video, which has since garnered over 1.8 million views, with many finding the incident amusing. Some joked that the cat should be reported to the Malaysian Department of Social Welfare (JKM) for being involved in what they described as a “syndi-cat” scam to trick people out of their money.
Others were genuinely surprised that people would be willing to leave RM1 notes in the container, assuming the cat was a stray, as there was no way of knowing where the money would end up. If you have the same concerns, don’t worry. As it turns out, @/zulkha._ revealed that she’s the cat’s owner and claimed that her regular customers are well-acquainted with her cat, Boboi.
