For years, David Beckham has been widely known as a football icon and a philanthropist. Recently, his work in sport and in charities earned him the coveted recognition of knighthood.
The former English captain has been formally knighted for his services to sports and charity by His Majesty King Charles III. The ceremony took place on 4th November 2025 (Tuesday) at Windsor Castle. With this new honour, David will now carry the title “Sir”. The occasion prompted a slew of congratulations from fans and supporters. The 50-year-old would later share a letter through his social media, expressing immense gratitude.

In his post, David wrote, “I can’t even begin to describe what a special day it is for me today, a boy born in East London, to receive a Knighthood from His Majesty The King. I am truly humbled and so grateful for this honour.” He added, “I have been fortunate to represent our country, and I’ve always done that with pride. I love our Royal Family and what it means to people, not just in Great Britain but around the world. I could never have dreamed that this would happen to me.”
David then thanked those who supported him throughout his football career, including his past teams and managers. He also noted that his work in the sport helped introduce him to philanthropy and working with charities such as UNICEF, the Royal Foundation and the King’s Foundation. The public figure has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for twenty years, since 2005.

Lastly, the football star thanked his family for all their love and support. He mentioned his parents, grandparents and his wife, Victoria, who has been by his side for the last 28 years. He also spoke about his children, calling them “our greatest joy in life and my inspiration every single day.” Everyone from David’s family was present at the ceremony, except for the couple’s eldest, Brooklyn.
