Over the weekend, singer Shila Amzah and internet personality Ubai Mz finally tied the knot. Unfortunately, while the couple are now happily married, the same thing cannot be said for the singer’s parents as it was announced a few days ago that they were divorcing.
The public figure finally spoke out about her parent’s separation during a live stream with her husband. Here’s what she had to say:
Yesterday (Wednesday, 9th August) Shila Amzah and Ubai Mz did a live stream on the latter’s TikTok channel where they answered questions about their relationship, wedding as well as family issues. At one point during the broadcast, netizens asked the singer for an update on her parents’ marriage.
It was reported a couple of days ago that the songstress’s parents, singer ND Lala and actress Fauziah Sarman are currently going through a divorce process. The 33-year-old asked fans to wish her family the best after what they’ve been through. “As their daughter, I don’t want to force them to stay together. It’s up to them what they want to do with their lives and find their own happiness,” she said.
The mother-of-one also expressed how disheartening it was for her and her siblings to see their parents constantly arguing. “Divorce is probably the best for them. Obviously, we’re all sad about the whole thing but we’re also tired of seeing them fighting. They’ve tried to work things out but it is what it is,” the celeb added. Being the good husband he is, Ubai also asked fans to pray for his in-laws and hope that they’ll be happier in the future.
Apart from Shila’s family issues, Ubai also shared some personal details about the recent passing of his mother who passed away from cancer last month, and his younger brother who passed away from a road accident 3 months prior.
