Turning 30 is a big deal for many people as they reflect on their lives and the decisions they have made over the years. Many have learned to accept them, while others express regret. Some thought about what they had achieved before reaching that certain age.
TWICE’s Jihyo (지효) and BLACKPINK’s Jennie (제니) have both recently discussed being in the final year of their 20s. The 29-year-olds shared with fans what they’ve accomplished so far and their thoughts on turning 30 next year. Here’s what they had to say:
Let’s start with Jihyo. The TWICE member recently posted a travel vlog of her time in Hawaii. At one point during the video, the idol sat down under the stars and talked about how she hopes to return to the tropical archipelago next year when she’s in her 30s. She also expressed regret for not spending her 20s as freely as she would have liked.
“I think what I regret the most is that all I did was work. That was the time when I was the youngest. I could’ve tried everything, taken risks without fear, but I spent all of it just working,” she told her travelling companion. That said, the singer also acknowledged that it is through her hard work as an idol that she has gained a lot of knowledge and experience, allowing her to enjoy the things she has now.
In Jennie’s case, she didn’t reveal much, only that she’s nervous about turning 30 next year. During her appearance on the latest episode of Hyell’s Club, the BLACKPINK member spoke about her nine years in the industry since her group’s debut back in 2016. After realising that this is the final year of her 20s, the “Mantra” songstress jokingly whined, “What should I do? I have one year left before I turn 30.”
Prior to expressing her anxiety, the idol shared that she wants to live her current life to the fullest before even considering what she wants to be in the next life. Even though Jihyo and Jennie are not ready to turn 30, it’s clear that they’re both grateful for the life they have now and want to continue living it without regrets.
