The weather hasn’t been kind to us over the past few days. The storm has become so severe that flooding has been reported in several areas, with warning sirens sounding to prepare residents for the worst-case scenario.
If some of you don’t think the storm or the floods are all that serious, this video might convince you otherwise, as the heavy rain was strong enough to leak through the ceiling of an LRT train. Here’s what happened:

Yesterday morning (Monday, 24th November), a Threads user who goes by @/justnur posted a video of her journey on the LRT Kelana Jaya line while it was storming outside. Suddenly, rainwater began leaking through the train’s ceiling. As seen in the screenshots above, water was dripping right in front of the priority seats, soaking the floor. Thankfully, no one else was visible in the video during the incident, so either the coach was empty, or passengers had moved out of the way.
The clip has since gone viral, with netizens expressing concerns about safety. Many voiced their disappointment over the train’s poor maintenance, given that water was able to leak through the ceiling. Others suggested that passengers should file a report with RapidKL immediately if they encounter a similar incident. A few speculated that the leak might have come from the air-conditioning system rather than the rain. Regardless of where the water came from, passengers could risk injury if they are not careful when standing on or walking across the soaked floor, especially during peak hours.

RapidKL has yet to respond to the leaking incident, and it is currently unclear whether the affected train continued its journey as usual or if the service was halted to allow passengers to disembark safely. Meanwhile, 10 graves at the Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery, the final resting place of Tan Sri P. Ramlee and Puan Sri Saloma, were damaged after a giant tree toppled over due to the continuous rain.
According to the KL City Council (DBKL), this was not the first time a tree had fallen at the site, as there are three other ageing trees on the cemetery grounds. Let’s hope the weather improves in the coming days so we don’t face the same inconveniences and difficulties as before.
