The Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Hassanal is sure to make heads turn wherever he goes. The adored royal has gone viral for multiple reasons from speaking a phrase in Korean to simply being “manja” with his mother, Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Despite his royal status, he’s known to be quite humble. However, even if he wanted to enter a venue unnoticed, his fans would immediately recognise him and stop whatever they were doing. That’s exactly what happened at this festival.
Indonesian veteran superstar Melly Goeslow was recently in Malaysia to perform at the Pesta Kuantan 188 concert. During the lively event, the artist sang many of her hits including “Kubahagia”. It was actually during that song when Tengku Hassanal made his entrance into the festival’s venue.
In a TikTok video that’s been going viral, the singer can be heard singing the first few words of the hit track’s chorus before holding the mic out to the audience, expecting them to sing the rest of the lyrics. However, many were distracted after noticing that Crown Price of Pahang had entered the venue while being assisted by security.
Due to this, only a few members of the audience were heard singing along to the song while the rest stayed silent as they observed His Royal Highness walking passed them. “Tengku Hassanal’s aura was more powerful than Melly’s,” one fan wrote in the comments section. There’s no denying that and we’re sure the artist would understand after learning why the crowd was unusually quiet during that particular point of her performance.
In other news, the Pahang Royal family attended the launch of the Save The Malayan Tigers Campaign which was held at Cameron Highlands yesterday (Thursday, 8th August). Tunku Azizah posted TikTok videos of her son Tengku Hassanal and her husband, Sultan Abdullah giving their respective speeches during the ceremony. One netizen commented on the video saying the Prince’s outfit was “lucu” (funny).
The former Queen replied, “How is it funny? Those are the patterns of the Malayan tigers!”. The user clarified that they meant the outfit was lovely and others informed them that the word “lucu” may not have the same meaning in Malaysia as it does in Indonesia, assuming that the netizen was from the neighbouring country. Let this be a lesson to us all to always be careful in choosing the right words before commenting on a public figure’s social media post, especially if they’re royals.
