Double-parking is such a concern in urban Malaysia, it’s just a part of reality at this point. Cue all the times parking has been awful, from car scratching, to finding a dead body, to insane fee accumulation, to snakes, parking is about survival of the fittest.
A TikTok posted by @alianadhierah last Sunday (27th April) shows a possibly better way to determine fitness — being able to move an entire car out of the way. A group of people in Putra Heights on that specific Sunday would like a word with you. If anything, it’s a sign to just bring back light and small cars again – not that the Perodua Axia is a light object.

It was an overcast afternoon when a Honda City was honking its horn, desperately trying to get the owner of a red Axia to move their car. Meanwhile, a group of men seemed to reach a collective decision—it was time to rock the crimson car. They gathered around the wheel wells and together freed the Honda City from its parking space. A few onlookers watched in awe, and some cheered them on.
Later that day, another video captured the aftermath of the situation. A police officer arrived on the scene and issued a fine just as they were about to return to their vehicle around 3pm. It was an unfortunate but satisfying conclusion to the incident of improperly parked cars on the road.

Online, comments range from praise for the men to demands for more hilarity. “Tolong menolong, Malaysia style (thumbs up)“, “Did they lift the owner too?” The incident resonated with netizens, who wrote about their previous experiences of getting double-parked. “I was stuck for almost 30 minutes trying to go buka puasa. I honked like hell and when the motorcycle rider came back, didn’t even give me a wave or apology (eyes roll)”
It should be said, if you’re breaking the law, it’s best to be smart about it. The Road Transport Act 1987 stipulates that if you let your car block roads, a fine or even imprisonment can be the consequence. Maybe leave a number on the dash, or just find a real parking spot.
