Khairul Aming is preparing to open his first restaurant, Rembayung, in early 2026, and many are already eager to secure reservations to sample the food. As the entrepreneur is well known for his cooking content and recipes, there is little doubt that the dining experience will be worth both the wait and the price.
While he did face some criticism following the announcement of the establishment, the overall response has largely been positive. That said, customers can sometimes have unrealistic expectations of what they would like to see in a restaurant. Here’s what happened:
During a recent TikTok livestream, a netizen asked Khairul Aming to clarify his remarks after Rembayung was described as “baby-friendly”. The business owner explained that while the restaurant will not have a nursing room, parents will be able to change their babies’ diapers in the restroom, which will be equipped with a wall-mounted changing table. “You’ll also have the trash bin, the sink and other things you need in the rest to change your baby’s diapers,” he added.
The moment from the broadcast has since gone viral, with netizens commenting that customers demanding a nursing room in a restaurant were being unreasonable. Many pointed out that Khairul Aming is opening a restaurant, not a shopping centre, and therefore there is no obligation to provide a dedicated nursing room. Others added that nursing mothers should come prepared with nursing covers if they wish to breastfeed their babies while dining at the restaurant.
Netizens also poked fun at the situation by playfully “demanding” that the restaurant provide beds for customers to sleep in after a heavy meal. Some even “suggested” the inclusion of roller coasters or a lounge area complete with a television, pool table and library to keep diners entertained while waiting to be served. While it would be convenient for a restaurant to have a nursing room for mothers, it is not necessarily a top priority when dining out.
