After hitting a slump, national athlete Lee Zii Jia (李梓嘉) is back on track to restore his former glory. The shuttler recently bagged his first tournament win of 2024 and even went viral with his fan interactions.
Lim Joe Heang, a strength and conditioning coach under Team LZJ, recently shared a video of the badminton star from his match at the 2024 Indonesia Open. In the video, Lee Zii Jia was seen interacting with a group of fans before exiting the court. It appears the athlete was waving to fans as they took videos and giving them high-fives while walking back towards the waiting room.
However, once he spotted Joe and his camera, the athlete fooled around and playfully shook his shoulders a few times. The coach was chuckling at Lee Zii Jia’s quirky antics from behind the camera and even jokingly captioned the video, “Woi, this person”, with a laughing emoji. It seems that the 26-year-old was in a good mood, having beaten his opponent, Weng Hongyang of China, to move into the quarter-finals.
Many fans have also reacted to the athlete’s antics, calling it cute and funny. Many also cooed at Lee Zii Jia, saying that he’s so playful with his Team LZJ staff. Others also said it’s nice seeing the badminton player doing well, on the court and off, noting that he has shown improvement with his recent performance. Some fans also took the opportunity to thank Lim and the others at Team LZJ for continuously supporting and encouraging the athlete behind the scenes.
