It’s not every day that you’d come across someone famous in public, especially if that someone is one of your favourite artists. Some have been brave enough to approach these celebs to ask for a selfie or at least an autograph while others prefer to leave them alone out of respect for their privacy.
This person decided to do the latter but not before taking a video of that celeb. Who would’ve thought that one day they’d catch American DJ and award-winning music producer Steve Aoki dining at a popular mall in Kuala Lumpur?

Yesterday (Sunday, 21st January), Ara or @/azrhazhr on TikTok posted a video on her channel of her secretly filming Steve Aoki chilling with some friends at Madam Kwan’s restaurant at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. According to the video’s captions, she saw the 46-year-old entertainer as she was ascending the escalator and decided to go down and back up again with her phone ready to catch the star on camera.
In one of her replies to the video, the TikToker considered taking a selfie with the “Waste It On Me” artist but decided not to out of fear that it might attract unwanted attention. The TikTok post of the “Waste It On Me” artist quickly went viral with now over 1.3 million views. Netizens were in disbelief that Steve Aoki was spotted dining at Pavilion KL. Some were sceptical if it was the actual DJ or a lookalike while others wondered why he was there in the first place.
For those who may not have been aware, Steve Aoki was the headliner for this year’s Out of the World (OOTW) music and water festival which took place over the weekend at KL Base Sungai Besi. This was his first time back after nearly a decade as he previously performed in Malaysia in 2014.
