Car clamping is a common occurrence, especially in busy city areas with high traffic flow. Klang Valley is no stranger to this, as the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) regularly enforces parking regulations by clamping vehicles that are illegally parked or obstructing traffic.
Last month, locals were surprised to learn that a viral burger stall in Bangsar, popularised by YouTuber IShowSpeed was shut down by DBKL, sparking claims of unfair treatment. Now, DBKL is back in the spotlight after a local resident shared his poor experience with the authorities near Bangsar Village on his TikTok account. Here’s what happened:

TikTok user @/thenshijin shared his frustration with DBKL’s parking enforcement after his Perodua Bezza was clamped for unauthorised street parking. While he acknowledged his fault, his frustration stemmed from what he saw as biased treatment, as nearby luxury vehicles—a Range Rover and an Estima—were left untouched by the authorities.
Though he has since paid the imposed fine, he expressed that it doesn’t make up for the perceived unfairness. When questioned about the selective enforcement, the DBKL officers reportedly remained silent and declined to respond. At the time of writing, the authorities have yet to address or clarify the matter.

Netizens have reacted to the video, with many sharing similar experiences they’ve had. Several called out DBKL for what they see as unfair treatment, suggesting that only the wealthy can break the law and avoid consequences. Some speculated that luxury cars with larger rims are difficult to clamp, which might explain the selective action. Meanwhile, others humorously advised the TikTok user to swap his car emblem for a high-end brand.
