It’s been a few months, but the Labubu trend is still going strong. Since its surge in popularity, there have been numerous cases of theft and scams, as many people have struggled to get their hands on these figurines, while others seek to resell them for a profit.

Unfortunately, although there haven’t been as many incidents as before, this doesn’t mean the crimes have stopped, as people will still go to great lengths to own these collectable items. In a recent case, a man was seen stealing Labubu toys by hiding them in his pants. Watch:

Earlier this week, Ace Cards & Collectibles posted CCTV footage on their social media page showing a man stealing a couple of Labubu figures from the shelves. The first time, the man can be seen walking into the store, presumably with his girlfriend, and waiting for her near the entrance while she browses through the aisle. Moments later, CCTV captured him taking a small box containing a Labubu figure from a shelf before discreetly hiding the item in his underwear.

The culprit can be seen walking uncomfortably through the aisle before calling for his girlfriend to leave the store. According to the timestamp on the CCTV, the first incident occurred on 17th January 2025. However, much to the store’s dismay, that wasn’t the last time. The thief returned on two separate days, this time alone, to commit the same act—stuffing Labubu blind boxes into his underwear.

“Looks like someone couldn’t resist taking Labubu home. If this face looks familiar (maybe your cousin, neighbour, or that one friend obsessed with blind boxes?), give us a heads-up! Let’s keep Labubu where it belongs: on the shelves, not in someone’s undies,” the store wrote in their captions. The video post has since gone viral, garnering over 16,000 views. Netizens were mostly baffled by how the thief managed to get away with his crime three times.

Some suggested that the store install electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems at the entrance to prevent further thefts. It is unclear whether Ace Cards & Collectibles has filed a police report on the matter. We personally recommend putting up a warning poster of the thief around the store to discourage him from returning.
