(Video) Malaysians Dumbfounded By How Much Money A Local Beggar Can Make In A Day

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with donating some cash to those who need it most but after several cases of scammers disguising themselves as homeless people or beggars on the streets, it’s no surprise that many prefer to donate food rather than cash.

Most would assume that beggars would make just enough money to survive for a day or two but this viral video has taken netizens by surprise at how much money beggars can actually earn in a day. Watch:

Over the weekend, @mynewshub posted a video on Twitter that showed what appears to be a poor homeless man counting the money he allegedly made from begging on the streets. In the aerial view video, the man was seen unwrapping a piece of cloth and took out some snacks inside before the camera zoomed in to show a large sum of RM1, RM5 and RM10 cash notes.

The man then counted and put away enough money for him to spend for the day before resuming counting the cash in the cloth. Location of where the video was filmed was not specified. While it is unknown exactly how much money was in that cloth, it can be assumed that it was at least enough for the beggar to survive for the week.

The video drew a lot of attention from netizens who were in disbelief of the amount of money the man had on him. Some made the assumption that the man was part of a syndicate to fool people into giving them money while others expressed their disapproval of taking advantage of people’s kindness to beg for money instead of working to earn an honest living.

There were also those who believe the man did nothing wrong as he could just be possibly counting his blessings, assuming that he was really financially struggling. However, a few claimed that beggars earn more than what most people believe, saying that some can even afford to stay at a fancy hotel.

At the time of writing, there has been no other information or update on the man in the viral video. If he’s really not what he appears to be then let’s hope that he’ll learn to earn money by living a more honest life.
