Our personal safety is always a concern whenever we step out of the house. During the weekend, a woman in Damansara Damai was traumatised after a perverted motorcyclist stopped on the side of the road and started masturbating in front of her.

Paranoia may lead to clouded judgement but this woman quickly caught on that she was being followed by a man and started recording the entire incident. Here’s how she found out that she wasn’t imagining things:

Yesterday afternoon (Monday, 15th January), a woman named Alvy Joanna posted 2 videos on her Twitter to show that she was being followed by a man at Arcoris Plaza at Mont Kiara. At first, the woman was doubtful but to confirm her suspicions, she purposely walked around the area to see if she was still being followed by the same person.

“I went into different shops to make sure I was not being delusional. He was observing me from the opposite direction and just continuously followed me,” she wrote in her reply. In her original post, the victim wrote that she confronted the man but he denied the accusations. Thankfully, nothing happened to her as she went into a Starbucks outlet and asked for help from a barista to call her friend to pick her up.

The post immediately went viral with netizens being concerned for the young lady’s safety. Most comments offered their support and words of comfort after the traumatising incident. Many defended the victim after some suspected that she was just being paranoid. Others shared similar stories of being followed by strangers.

Alvy went to file a report at the police station and thankfully, one of the higher-ups called to check on her well-being, offering that she could call them whenever she felt unsafe. “They asked me to send in evidence and describe what he looks like if I ever see that man again,” she said. At the time of writing, there has been no update on the case but we hope that Alvy is doing better now.
