Many stores, especially cosmetic stores offer samples or testers of certain products for customers to try to help them decide whether or not they want to buy them. You’ve probably noticed that most of these customers would apply some of these make-up products on their hands to see if they like the colour.
For some reason, this local TikToker did the exact opposite and decided to try one of the lip gloss samples on her lips. Watch:
@tyrahalim__ Salah ke nk try tester brg watsons 🥲 malu dhoo #fyp #viral #trending #watsonsmalaysia
A couple of days ago, content creator Tyra Halim posted on her TikTok of her trip to a Watsons store with a caption that reads, “Is it wrong to try the samples at Watsons? I’m so embarrassed”. The TikToker was seen wanting to try one of the lip gloss testers on the shelf but instead of applying a stroke of the product on her hand, she actually applied it on her lips.
Thankfully, another customer was nearby and told her to stop, advising her to use it on her hands instead since other customers had touched it. After the woman walked away, the baffled influencer looked at her camera and said, “Guys, she scolded me. She told me to use [the lip gloss] on my hand!”. She then revealed she immediately left the store after the incident as she felt ashamed.
Her post went viral on both TikTok and Twitter with netizens commenting that the woman was right to stop her as she could’ve gotten infected with diseases if she had applied the tester on her lips. Others brought up cases where customers had herpes, Covid and other infections after applying testers on their lips.

Some were confused as to how Tyra couldn’t have known this since it’s basically general knowledge when trying on testers and samples. There were also those who accused the TikToker of acting dumb or staging this incident for clout.
Whether it’s staged or real, let this be a reminder to never apply samples or testers directly on your face as you could risk getting infected with diseases.
