Those who grew up in the early 2000s will undoubtedly remember a particular American sitcom that many of us never missed whenever it aired on television. “Malcolm in the Middle”, starring Frankie Muniz, centred on a highly dysfunctional family constantly struggling to fit into society.
One of the show’s most distinctive traits was its frequent breaking of the fourth wall, with Malcolm directly addressing the camera to comment on their misfortunes and everyday chaos. The show came to an end in 2006 after seven seasons, but it is now officially making a return to television after nearly two decades. Here’s our first look:

After it was announced in 2024 that a revival was in development, fans were both surprised and excited to learn that most of the original cast would be reprising their iconic roles. The sequel project, titled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair”, was confirmed to be a four-episode reunion mini-series. Filming began in April and wrapped up a month later.
Yesterday (Monday, 29th December), streaming platform Hulu released the first teaser for the upcoming sequel series, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect from the long-awaited return. According to the official synopsis, “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair” follows the main character Malcolm, forced to bring his girlfriend Tristan and daughter Leah to see his chaotic family after nearly 20 years apart for his parents’ 40th anniversary party.

The teaser certainly brought back a wave of nostalgia, with fans now eagerly awaiting the series’ premiere on Hulu next year, on 10 April 2026. With the original creator, writers, and cast returning, it is likely that fans of the iconic series will enjoy this special reunion as much as they did the original show.
