It seems things keep going south for Lee Zii Jia (李梓嘉) because a week after crashing out early at the Singapore Open, the badminton ace suffered another early exit during the Indonesia Open. However, the national shuttler has now hinted that he might be going on an indefinite break.

During his first match of the Indonesia Open at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, the badminton player lost to Indian player Lakshya Sen in a straight set. Many viewers who caught the game noted that the athlete wasn’t playing his best during the match, especially during the second set.

In the post-match interview, the shuttler briefly addressed his less-than-enthusiastic play before hinting at a possible temporary break from future matches. During the interview, he said, “I think for now I will probably temporarily quit badminton. I don’t know how long it will take, but I will quit badminton for a while until I get (the) motivation again. I will take a break and rest for a while.”

He also shared that he has been considering the break for a while now after realising he couldn’t concentrate on the court. The athlete added that his current priority is to find his passion for the sport again, so taking a break would do him good.

While the break isn’t 100% confirmed, fans have voiced their support for the badminton player’s decision. Many also hope the break will help the athlete regain motivation and return to his glory days.
