There’s a reason why there are designated spaces only for women; Women’s parking, women’s LRT/KTM coaches, women’s bookstore, etc. It is to keep men out so that women can feel safe. We’ve previously covered a story of 3 women being harassed by the same man on the LRT so it’s only fair for them to have a safe space to avoid something like this from happening.

If men are butthurt over the fact that women want to feel safe when they’re out in public then maybe try to listen for once. Instead of asking why women are getting all these “privileges”, why not actually contribute to the effort of making them feel safe and that includes not entering these women only spaces but apparently some men can’t comprehend the concept.

KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad) posted a video last week (Thursday, 11th August) that’s been getting a lot of attention from netizens. The video is basically KTMB calling out men who ride the KTM commuters in the Ladies Coaches. In the video, we can see several men sitting and standing in the Ladies coach with the text caption that reads, “POV: When female passengers enter the Ladies coach only to find it filled with men”.

KTMB wrote on the video post asking male passengers to ride the trains in the regular coaches. “We’re not asking for much, all male passengers please use the other coaches. P/S the Ladies Coach on the KTM Commuter is only available at the Lembah Klang sector.” Since the video was posted on Facebook, it has reached 87k views, 1.3k likes and 835 comments.

KTM Komuter Train Overshot & Crashed Into Butterworth Station Platform

Netizens all took to the comment section to give their thoughts on the situation with some saying that the reason why the Ladies coach aren’t always full is because the passengers are always in a rush to go home so they’re not picky in which coaches they’ll end up using. Some thanked KTMB for providing a space for women so that they can feel safe. Others think that there should also be a Men’s coach.

Although the video itself may just be a reenactment to create awareness, they can still happen in real life. After reading some of the comments and suggestions, KTMB responded by saying that they will take them into consideration in order to make sure the Ladies coaches are filled and used properly.
