Finding a job can be difficult after graduating from school or university, especially in a highly competitive field. Even celebrity entrepreneur Kak KM struggled to find work in her youth. Luckily, she had someone warn her about a suspicious job offer from a man she met on the streets.
During a recent livestream, the business owner shared a story about the time a pimp approached her with a job offer. At first, she didn’t realise he was a pimp because he was dressed modestly, with a kopiah on his head. “At the time, I thought those who wear kopiah are good men but it turns out, that’s not always the case. I was 18 so I was very naive then,” she said.

Shortly after completing her SPM exams, the founder of Sweet Dara was out and about in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman when a man approached her with a job offer. Curious, she asked him about the application and interview process. “He gave me his card and told me to meet him at his office behind Chow Kit. That confuses me cause at the time it was basically a redlight district area. He insisted that he had an office upstairs,” she shared.
After the stranger left, another man approached Kak KM and asked about what had happened. She explained that she had received a job offer from the person she had spoken to. The man immediately informed her that she had been approached by a pimp. “Chills went down my spine when he told me that but at first, I didn’t want to believe him. To be sure, I went to investigate myself from afar. I checked that alleyway behind Chow Kit and there he was. The kopiah man surrounded by his ’employees’,” she claimed.

Kak KM said she was glad that nothing bad had happened to her but admitted that she was curious about how her life would have turned out if she had accepted the job offer. “If I had gone down that road, I think I’d do well ’cause my body was beautiful and skinny at the time. I was single too, customers will love me,” she joked.
While she can joke about it now, let her story serve as a reminder to always be cautious when approached by a stranger offering you a job. As tempting as it may seem, they’re not always what they appear to be.
