Netflix’s animated smash hit “K-pop Demon Hunters” has become more than just a fan favourite; it’s officially Netflix’s most-watched movie of all time. The animated feature has exploded in popularity since its release, topping global streaming charts for months and captivating audiences worldwide.
Now with confirmation that a sequel is officially in talks at both Netflix and Sony Animation, the buzz around the franchise is only growing louder. That excitement reached a new level at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards this past weekend, where the film’s stars, singers EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami hit the red carpet in fashion-forward looks inspired by their on-screen personas. As presenters at the show, the trio leaned all the way into their roles, blending music and style in a way that felt ripped right from the animated universe they helped bring to life.

EJAE, Audrey, and Rei Ami, who provided the singing voices for the characters of Rumi, Mira and Zoey respectively in the film’s heroic girl group HUNTR/X, turned heads with looks that were both high fashion and deeply referential. Audrey, in particular, made waves by channelling one of the film’s most outrageous outfits, a sleeping bag-inspired ensemble worn by Mira to the MET Gala in a memorable flashback sequence. Draped in a dramatic floor-length black puffer coat over a detailed leather halter mini-dress, the singer fastened the coat at a single point, echoing Mira’s chaotic but confident energy. Her hair, styled in two twisted sculptural loops, sealed the look with a futuristic flair.
Rei Ami wore a cropped black top with a thick belt and a black fringe miniskirt, wrapped in a cosy yet dramatic fuzzy burgundy shawl. She completed the outfit with belted ankle boots, giving off the same tough-meets-glam vibe that defines her on-screen counterpart. EJAE leaned into minimalism with impact, wearing a sharp black blazer and trousers over a red-and-black bandeau top, her hair pulled into a sleek high knot. Though each outfit was distinct, they felt part of a shared visual universe of equal parts K-pop, demon-slaying chic, and red carpet couture.

While their fashion turned heads, it was their sequel teasers that left fans buzzing. In a TikTok video posted by Billboard, the trio shared their thoughts on what they’d love to explore in future instalments of “K-Pop Demon Hunters”. “I would really love to know Mira’s backstory, Zoe’s backstory, how the girls got together, and maybe also tea on her father,” said Rei Ami, referencing several plot threads that remain mysteriously unresolved. EJAE kept her response short and sweet, saying, “It’s up to the directors, I trust them,” clearly keeping any spoilers under wraps. Audrey, on the other hand, leaned all the way into the fandom’s favourite slow-burn storyline, “I want the romantic tension between Rumi and Jinu to just slowly continue burning and then for them not to break it until the third or fourth or fifth or sixth movie.”
Whether those sequels are already in the works or not, one thing is clear: “K-pop Demon Hunters” has built a world and a fandom ready for more. With strong performances, killer fashion, and just enough unsolved mysteries, the cast’s red carpet appearance felt less like an awards show and more like a statement: the demons may be gone (for now), but the girls are just getting started.
