Celebrities have had to address some viral rumours, like bankruptcy and death. However, Jonas Brothers singer Joe Jonas had to recently speak up on the allegations that he took a hard drug while performing on stage.
Esquire magazine recently interviewed Joe, along with his brother Nick and Kevin, discussing various topics, including their ongoing tour, “Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour”. During the interview, the 36-year-old talked about being “extremely online” and seeing all the internet discourse about him, including the one about him sniffing cocaine while on stage.

The rumours stemmed from a video taken during the band’s 6th September show at the Intuit Dome in California. In the video, Joe was checking and wiping his nose in a side-stage mirror. While his actions seemed innocent enough, tons of speculations kicked off, including ones that suggested the singer was checking his nose for cocaine residue. Shortly after the video went viral, Joe clarified that he was only checking his nose for boogers.
During the Esquire interview, the “Heart By Heart” singer touched on the topic again, reiterating that he wasn’t sniffing drugs. He even candidly revealed, “I’ve never touched cocaine in my life”. However, Joe then seemingly poked fun at the absurdity of the rumours, quipping, “But if I did, I think I’d be a little slicker about it than doing it onstage.” Thankfully, he didn’t seem too bothered by the rumours, knowing that the issue had been blown out of proportion.

In the same interview, Joe also shared his thoughts about his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s latest release, “The Life Of A Showgirl”. He said, “I’ve heard some of it. I think she’s obviously the biggest artist out there, and I think it’s good. Everybody’s got an opinion about it, but from what I’ve heard, there are some catchy melodies.” Interestingly, Joe’s comment made him one of the few of Taylor’s exes to comment on her recent album.
It must’ve been odd for Joe to have to deny taking drugs over a video of him checking his nose, but at least he can laugh at the situation now. Let’s hope there won’t be any more weird rumours as the Jonas Brothers continue their tour. If you’re curious, here’s the video that started the allegations:
