When purchasing a car, most would want one of the newer models as they’d have more advanced features and would last longer but that doesn’t necessarily mean an old model would be a bad investment. When you form a sentimental attachment to something, you’d take good care of it to the best of your ability.
Take, for instance, actress Jasmin Hamid who still drives around in an old Proton Wira. The artist defended herself when people started questioning her financial status after seeing her drive around in the discontinued model. Here’s what she said:
Over the weekend, Jasmin Hamid posted a video of her and her husband driving around in her old Proton Wira car, which hasn’t been used since the Movement Control Order (MCO) a few years back. The mother-of-two was seen happily sitting in the passenger seat expressing her joy after not having been in her car on the road for a while.
In the captions, the actress said the car, which she named BOBOB, has sentimental value to her and is not ashamed to drive around in it. “Some people judged me for driving BOBOB. ‘How come a celebrity drives an old car? Have they gone broke?’ That’s what I heard them say but I chose to ignore them. Is it HARAM for me to still own an old car?” the 51-year-old wrote.
The “Seratus” star ended her post by advising others to keep their opinions to themselves as she’s very happy and content with her life. The local celeb’s video received praise from both fans and celebrities who share the same sentiment as her. Many shared how they still drive the car they bought decades ago while others applaud her for being humble.
Regardless if she drives an old car or a luxury car, Jasmin has the right to do whatever she wants with her money. By the looks of the car’s condition, it’s evident that she has taken good care of it over the years.
