With the situation in Palestine worsening by the day and ongoing news about the Global Flotilla mission to Gaza, there has been growing discussion about how individuals can provide more effective aid and raise greater awareness. Public figures have also shared their thoughts on the issue, but at times, their statements can be taken out of context, leading to unnecessary backlash.
Unfortunately, actor Aaron Aziz has experienced this recently after an influencer criticised him for allegedly suggesting that people were being hypocritical for merely sharing posts about Palestine without taking much action. However, it later emerged that the video of his interview had been taken out of context, resulting in significant backlash.

Content creator Sharina Richie posted a now-deleted video of Aaron Aziz appearing to make a controversial remark about people not taking more effection action to provide help to fight against injustice, other than sharing videos. The influencer criticised him, saying that he should encourage everyone to continue sharing information online, as that could be one of the few ways they are able to help.
However, in the full, unedited interview, the actor was specifically referring to those who took advantage of any issue to make a profit and draw attention to themselves rather than to the cause. Unfortunately, following Sharina’s original video post, Aaron faced significant backlash, which prompted his family to come to his defence. His daughter, Dwi Ariana, called out the motorsports racer for allegedly slandering her father and causing him emotional distress. The actor himself also urged Sharina to watch the full interview before speaking out against him.

Sharina Richie has since deleted the post and issued a public apology to the Singaporean star. “I’m truly sorry for the misunderstanding. It wasn’t my intention to slander. My goal was to remind everyone with a platform not to be afraid — to realise that reposting, sharing, and raising awareness go a long way. Again, I truly apologise,” she wrote in her captions. Dwi Ariana was less forgiving, as she felt the apology was insincere.
She also revealed that the influencer had yet to personally apologise to the family or respond to her direct messages on Instagram. However, Aaron Aziz and his family will be taking legal action against Sharina Richie and others who spread the alleged slander. The content creator has yet to respond to news about the lawsuit.
