To collaborate with your idol is a dream come true, but to work with a music legend is a milestone few can ever claim. Only a handful of artists have had the chance to record or perform with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, including Britney Spears, Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Justin Timberlake.
As it turns out, Mariah Carey also collaborated with the icon on a track – though to this day, it remains unreleased. The singer has shared a few details about the song and explained why it was not included on her latest album.

During her recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen”, Mariah Carey was asked by a fan whether she planned to feature her collaboration with Michael Jackson in the next edition of her compilation album “The Rarities”. The 2020 record includes alternative versions of her hits as well as unreleased material from her archives.
The vocalist explained that she had originally intended to include the track on her most recent album, “Here For It All”, but it had to be scrapped following objections from Michael Jackson’s estate. “There is an issue with his estate because they’re planning something huge for him, and releasing this song would usurp the situation,” she said.

When the host asked whether she liked the track, the mother-of-two replied: “I love it and I’m so upset that it didn’t come out on this album. It should have been. Every time I played it for somebody, they were amazed.” She went on to add that the song was written by the King of Pop himself, and expressed her hope that it would be released some day.
Since the revelation, fans have expressed excitement about the collaboration and have urged Jackson’s estate to release it soon. Many believe the track has the potential to be a hit, given that it brings together two musical legends. May this song see the light of day.
