Whenever we think of celebrities, we often picture them wearing the nicest outfits and the latest trends. However, there are some stars, like Hong Kong actress Queenie Chu (朱慧敏), who prefer to live a more frugal lifestyle.
Recently, the mother of two did a livestream broadcast on her social media, showing her playing with her children. However, what caught netizens’ attention was Queenie’s choice of outfit. During the livestream, the former Miss Hong Kong runner-up was wearing a grey shirt and black tights. Noticeably, both garments have holes in them, with the shirt having a large hole on the shoulder and the bottoms having a hole at the back.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Queenie has worn this shirt on a livestream. The 44-year-old often sports this clothing combo when broadcasting from her home, leaving many to believe that the shirt and pants are her choice of house clothes. However, netizens still express concern, worried that Queenie might accidentally expose herself if she continued to wear torn garments.
Despite the concerning comments, Queenie said she’ll continue to wear her worn-out clothes, admitting a fondness for that specific grey top. She said, “This (shirt) has been my pyjama for at least 15 years. I didn’t really know there was a hole in the back, but it’s still kind of fashionable, isn’t it? Even though it’s worn out, it doesn’t affect me from wearing it, and it’s comfortable.”

Queenie also explained that she chooses to wear old clothes to be more frugal and more environmentally conscious. In addition to wearing the same clothes for 15 years, the actress also uses the same water bottle that she bought 24 years ago when she was a college student. She also says she doesn’t replace her phone unless it’s broken, adding she’ll keep using the device as long as she can make calls, use WhatsApp and do live broadcasts.
While netizens were initially concerned about Queenie’s unusual choice of clothing, many of them praised the star for her frugal lifestyle and environmentally conscious habits. What are your thoughts on this? Watch a clip from her recent livestream below:
