Hong Kong-American actor Philip Ng (伍允龍) is a skilled action star who has received tons of praise for his work on screen. However, he recently received more praise for his reaction to an overzealous audience member during a special movie screening.
The actor recently attended a special screening for his new movie “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In (九龙城寨之围城)” to celebrate the success of the film. As part of the event’s agenda, Philip had invited an audience member to help him demonstrate a martial arts move depicted in the movie. As shown in a video taken of the incident, Philip had instructed the middle-aged man to hold on to a prop to aid with the demonstration.
Unfortunately, it seems that the audience member was a little too eager to show off his martial arts skills as he then refused to hold the prop and started kicking the actor in the leg. The sudden display of force caught the cast members and audience by surprise but everyone laughed it off and continued with the demonstration. Given Philip’s training and skills, it’s unsurprising that the audience member was visibly affected by his strong punch.
However, it seems that the man wasn’t happy with “losing” to the star because when the 46-year-old star was distracted, the audience member pushed him to the ground. While the cast and crew did laugh at the incident, they immediately pushed the man away from Philip to prevent him from making any more sudden moves. It is believed that the celeb himself was taken aback by the man’s sudden aggression but merely laughed it off and got back on his feet with the help of his cast member.
The man’s action and hostile behaviour towards Philip was heavily criticised by netizens. Many also called him a sore loser for his lack of sportsmanship. On the other hand, netizens praised Philip for his reaction to the situation, saying he had shown more class and maturity than the audience member. They also quipped that the actor could’ve easily taken down the man but had more respect for others.
