The Petronas Twin Towers, known more familiarly as KLCC, is an icon of the city, standing at a whopping 451.9 metres. Given its height, it’s no wonder that the iconic building has been the backdrop for many action films – but could Nicholas Tse’s (谢霆锋) next movie also feature the Twin Towers?
The Hong Kong actor was recently in Kuala Lumpur with director Herman Yau (邱禮濤) to promote their new film “Customs Frontline (海關戰線)”. During the press conference, the duo was asked many questions by journalists about their new movie and, at the same time, Nicholas was questioned about his upcoming project, “New Police Story 2 (新警察故事2)”. Previously, there were reports that the sequel to the 2004 action film is in the works, with Nicholas taking charge as director.
At the event, a local media outlet questioned whether Nicholas would scout some potential filming locations in Malaysia. The 44-year-old said nothing is set in place yet but added that he will consider filming in Malaysia under one condition – he gets to climb the Petronas Twin Towers. Nicholas said he remembered watching Sean Connery scale the building in the film ‘Entrapment”, saying he was impressed by the actor’s bravery.
The star said that if the Malaysian government permits him to climb KLCC, he’ll immediately jump on the opportunity. Nicholas also showed interest when the emcee shared that there are other towers taller than the KLCC – the Merdeka 118 and The Exchange 106. He also seemed amused when the emcee said the actor could consider filming a movie at those two towers.
We sure hope the government will consider granting the actor’s request because just the thought of the scene has got us excited! However, given that English actress Florence Pugh reportedly filmed at Merdeka 118 for Marvels’ “Thunderbolts” a couple weeks back, Nicholas’ dream might not seem too farfetched.
