Fans of historical Hong Kong dramas would be familiar with actor Kwong Wa (江华), who famously played the Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang in the “Journey To The West (西游记)” series from the late 90s. However, netizens joked that the actor is returning to his “monk days” because of a recent video.
Kwong Wa recently shared a video on his XiaoHongShu account, which showed him sweeping the floor of his home corridor. In the video, the actor appeared only in a simple pair of shorts and slippers, showing off his fit torso. His bald head also seemed more noticeable as the camera filmed him from a higher angle. However, as the 63-year-old diligently swept the floor, netizens couldn’t help but joke about the scene.

Given his bald head, many netizens couldn’t help but equate Kwong Wa to a Shaolin monk sweeping the temple floor. Some jokingly said the imagery of the actor sweeping gave them a sense of peace and tranquility. One netizen even asked if the public figure was practising to become a monk. In response, Kwong Wa cheekily replied that he had thought about it for over 20 years, so he might still have a chance to be one.
Many also noted that he seemed comfortable doing chores while shirtless, with some saying he reminded them of their father. The video also had many praising Kwong Wa’s toned figure, saying he looks to be in great shape despite being in his 60s. However, fans also urged the star to be more careful since the weather is getting colder.

All Kwong Wa needed was a robe, and his diligent monk look would be complete. What are your thoughts on this? Did you also mistook this actor for a religious figure?
