Eric Tsang’s (曾志偉) time as TVB’s general manager hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies, leading to much criticism about his leadership skills. However, is the veteran star prepared to give up the post?
On 19th November 2025 (Wednesday), Eric met with reporters after TVB’s 2025 Anniversary Gala, during which he addressed rumours that he’s resigning as TVB’s general manager. Previously, there were speculations that the star would share a major announcement related to his future on the broadcasting station.

However, Eric denied the rumours, quipping that everyone had misunderstood him when he asked them to look forward to the Anniversary Gala. The 72-year-old also stated his intention to remain in his position for the foreseeable future, adding that he would leave one day, just not at the moment.
The veteran star has held the position of General Manager for Program Content Operations since September 2021. During his tenure, Eric has spearheaded a series of reforms, including facilitating a rapprochement between TVB and Hong Kong’s top record labels. The entertainer also fostered collaborations with Mainland China’s entertainment scene.

Despite that, Eric has also faced criticism from fans and netizens about his time in TVB. Notably, there have been claims that the broadcasting giant has faced declining profits over the past few years. There is also criticism regarding the quality of programs, with some fans arguing that Hong Kong dramas and shows still lack compared to their Asian counterparts.
Meanwhile, netizens also lamented that this year’s TVB Anniversary Gala celebration was lackluster than the previous ceremonies. What are your thoughts on this? Check out Eric’s interview below:
