(Video) “Didn’t You See The Sticker?”: OKU Man Fined For Parking In OKU Space

We’ve had many parking disputes throughout this year alone. Some people couldn’t seem to accept the fact that you cannot simply “book” a parking space just by standing in it. Others had gone to extra (and unusual) lengths to fight over a parking space. There were also those who were crazy enough to fight the authorities after they were caught breaking the rules.

Speaking of breaking the rules, unless you’re a registered OKU (disabled) person, you can’t occupy an OKU parking space or otherwise, you’d be fined. But what happens if you, an OKU person, got fined for parking in an OKU space? Unfortunately, this man had to go through some trouble to solve this problem.

Busker and content creator Roslan or @roslanjajuli on TikTok is an OKU man who is wheelchairbound and recently, he posted a video of himself getting fined for parking in an OKU space in Morib, Selangor. Confused? So was he. Baffled, the musician expressed his dissatisfaction over the incident. He even asked an eye-witness, who was recording the video, to verify that he didn’t break any rules.

“I didn’t know that I’m not allowed to park in an OKU space as an OKU,” he said sarcastically. Not wanting to drag this issue any longer, the man decided to just pay the fine but not before complaining about it. The TikToker read the document aloud to his followers so that they were aware of the “crime” he committed. “Didn’t they see the big [OKU] sticker on my car? Do your job right. It’s okay, I’ll just pay for it but next time don’t fine me,” he said.

The TikTok video went viral not long after it was posted with now reaching over 1.5 million views and 9k comments where netizens showed their support for the unfortunate man. The Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) soon became aware of the video and they released a statement saying that it was all a misunderstanding.

According to the statement issued, Roslan apparently was not using the correct OKU sticker. The sticker on his car was not the version issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) or the Selangor State Government so the fine was issued with the assumption of someone using a forged sticker. Thankfully, the misunderstanding has been resolved.

The fine, however, can be canceled if the individual can provide proof that they are indeed a registered OKU person. Roslan posted a follow-up video explaining the situation and even thanked MPKL for providing him with a new sticker to place on his car. All’s well that ends well we’d say.
