While many of his colleagues admitted they didn’t know about his relationship, fans suspect that his “Running Man” co-star Song Jihyo (송지효) already knew about the special lady in his life.
On 5th September 2025 (Friday), Kim Jong-kook tied the knot to a non-celebrity in a private event, attended only by close friends and family. When the star first announced his marriage, many were surprised, given that the singer had never mentioned dating anyone. Even his variety show co-stars couldn’t believe that the long-time bachelor was finally getting married, with some even asking if it was a prank.
Following his wedding ceremony, the 49-year-old shared a video on his GYM JONG KOOK YouTube channel, revealing how his colleagues and friends reacted to his marriage announcement. As shown in the video, most of the reactions were initially in disbelief over the news, before extending their congratulations. Many also immediately asked him about the bride, as this was the first time they were hearing about her.
Amongst the many stars that appeared in the video, it was Song Jihyo whose reaction sparked the most conversation. Like the others, the actress was overjoyed when she heard the news and immediately congratulated her “Running Man” co-star. However, netizens noted that she never questioned the legitimacy of the announcement, which indicated that the star likely already knew about Kim Jong-kook’s relationship.
Kim Jong-kook has been tight-lipped about his new wife, sparking curiosity amongst the public. However, in a recent episode of KBS’s “Problem Child In House”, the singer cleared up some rumours about the mystery woman, saying, “She doesn’t work in fitness, and there isn’t a 20-year age gap (between us). The reason there weren’t any sightings is simply because our dating period wasn’t that long.”
