When you’re running a business, it’s important for you to know what should be done in the event of an emergency. Ensuring your and others’ safety should be the top priority. You’ll never know when a disaster will strike and in what form it will take.

Earlier this month, an outlet in Shah Alam of a popular clothing brand caught fire twice reportedly due to short-circuit. It’s been the talk of netizens for quite some time and now another clothing brand is suffering loss from a fire as well. Here’s what happened:

A warehouse belonging to Elrah Exclusive clothing brand recently caught on fire. While the exact location was not specified, it was reported that the incident happened late last night (9th January). The brand owner, Sass Syed posted a video on his Instagram of the devastation after he was contacted by the authorities. As seen in the video, a fireman showed the entrepreneur around the burnt area of the warehouse.

Apparently, the cause of the fire was not due to an electrical short-circuit but a person. In the same video, the business owner showed a video captured by a civilian as well as CCTV footage of a man climbing through the gates of the warehouse’s loading bay. The man threw (what appears to be) some sort of explosives to the items in the warehouse before dashing away.

“I am offering an RM100,000 reward for anyone who manages to find the perpetrator(s) who tried to burn my warehouse down,” Sass wrote in the video caption. He added that a staff member previously informed him after they noticed a suspicious motorcyclist circling the warehouse a few times but chose not to take any action at the time. “I’m taking action now to further ensure the safety of my staff,” said the brand owner.

Netizens commented on the video with many recommending Sass invest in improving warehouse security. Others sympathised with the Elrah Exclusive owner while a few accused this is all just part of a marketing strategy. At the time of writing, there has been no official statement by the authorities on the progress of their investigation.
