For years, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) has remained one of Malaysians’ favourite Hong Kong actresses. Recently, the star made an appearance in Kuala Lumpur, meeting fans at an event in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. While in town, she did an interview where she discussed Malaysia, her fans and her work life.
Earlier this week, media outlet Malaysia Jor shared their interview with Charmaine. In the video, the actress spoke with host Hilda HoWun (可媛) about various topics, including her feelings towards Malaysia and the locals. Having visited many times for work, the actress said she finds the locals very kind and well-mannered. She also noticed that most Malaysians would politely approach her when meeting in public.
Charmaine also mentioned that many of her Malaysian fans would prepare gifts for her when she’s in town, highlighting their hospitality. She also talked about the birthday project that her Malaysian fan club had held for her back in May, where they displayed birthday videos on several digital billboards around the Klang Valley. Charmaine said she had seen the project and thanked the fans who participated.
A known foodie, Charmaine also discussed her favourite Malaysian food. She mentioned that she prefers noodle dishes, such as fish head noodles. However, when visiting Malaysia, the actress also always indulges in durian. Hilda then suggested that she try the new variety of durian called Tupai King. Given her love for the fruit, the actress immediately expressed interest in trying.
Hilda also tried asking Charmaine about her love life, wondering if she’s dating anyone. To the host’s surprise, the actress said she’s always dating. However, she then explained that she’s “dating” her work, noting that she loves acting so much that she’s committed to her career. She said with every drama she works on, she devotes herself to learning about her character and loving the role, arguing that the process is very romantic.
Given her dedication to her work and her fans, it’s no surprise that Charmaine Sheh is still one of Hong Kong’s top actresses. Check out her full interview below:
