Normally, fans will be over the moon upon hearing the news that their favourite K-pop idols are embarking on a world tour and performing in their countries. It’s rare for such announcements to receive backlash, but it has happened before.
After YG Entertainment announced plans for a BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) comeback in 2025, BLINKs were thrilled. However, the company’s latest announcement was surprisingly not well received. Here’s why:

Last night (Wednesday, 5th February), YG Entertainment posted a video teaser announcing that BLACKPINK will embark on a world tour later this year. While many were excited by the news, there was also overwhelming criticism from fans. BLINKs condemned YG for the timing of the announcement, accusing them of overshadowing Jisoo’s promotions for her upcoming solo projects.
Many pointed out that it was outrageous for the label to announce a tour when a comeback date has yet to be set, especially as the BLACKPINK members are still busy with their individual solo activities. Others expressed concerns that everything would be too rushed, urging YG to push the tour to 2026 to allow more time for the girls to properly wrap up promoting their new music and prepare for the next BLACKPINK album.

There were also netizens who argued that it was a smart decision for YG to tease the tour early, giving BLINKs more time to save up for the BLACKPINK comeback album and tour, as no official date has been announced yet. A few remain hopeful that the tour announcement will be worth it if the girl group’s next album is a full-length release rather than an EP.
Although this is just a teaser, plans are still subject to change as time progresses, so we’ll see how this goes. At the time of writing, Rosé and Jisoo are the only BLACKPINK members who have reposted YG’s teaser.
