Fans getting excited at the sight of their idols is a pretty normal occurrence. Although most are respectful and give these artists their space, there have been cases where these admirers let hysteria take over them, which is why a security team is important to ensure everyone’s safety.
Unfortunately, some fans can get extremely aggressive at staff members or security if they get reprimanded for something. Yesterday (Thursday, 27th June), a fight broke out between a BABYMONSTER (베이비몬스터) fansite and an event staff during the K-pop group’s appearance in Thailand. Here’s what happened:
For context, BABYMONSTER is currently in Thailand for their “BABYMONSTER PRESENTS: SEE YOU THERE FANMEETING” event. The K-pop stars were being interviewed by a local radio station with lucky fans being able to witness the conversation live through the glass window of the venue. Then, something unexpected occurred.
As seen in the screenshots above, a fansite can be seen attacking a staff member at the venue. Luckily, the staff was able to fend him off until security arrived and apprehended the fansite to prevent the fight from escalating further. They then escorted the fansite out of the venue. It was alleged that the staff was reprimanding the fansite after receiving multiple complaints that he was blocking the other audience members’ views.
Others claimed that he was trying to cut in line to get a close view of the idols. Those who were at the event claimed that members of BABYMONSTER even witnessed the altercation as it was happening. The incident instantly went viral on social media with fans slamming the fansite for his aggression and inconsideration.
At the time of writing, there have been no further details on the identity of the perpetrator and the BABYMONSTER fansite publication he belongs to. Neither YG Entertainment nor BABYMONSTER’s management released a statement on the incident. We’re glad to know that nobody else was hurt in the process and we hope that the staff who was attacked is doing alright.
