When you check into a luxury hotel, you expect pristine rooms without any issues in sight. However, local entrepreneur Aleeya Zailan’s stay at a renowned hotel in Melaka was disappointing, to say the least, due to unacceptable living conditions.
The Avenys founder recently took to Instagram to share about the terrible plumbing conditions of her hotel room in Melaka. Aleeya’s first video showed the bathroom sink being filled with brownish water as contaminated water flowed from the tap. In another video, the entrepreneur showed the room’s bathtub filled with the same polluted water, proving the issue was in the water supply itself.

While Aleeya never mentioned the name, she revealed the hotel in question was a renowned hotel and that other rooms at the hotel had the same issue. According to the media personality, she only began to notice the water condition after her throat started feeling sore after brushing her teeth. She added that her children had showered with the dirty water, which worried her about their health and safety. Aleeya also voiced her anger towards the hotel for putting guests at risk.
Many netizens have reacted to Aleeya’s videos, expressing disgust over the room’s condition. Influencer Ceddy Ang also spoke about the situation, writing, “WHAT IS THIS? This is so unhealthy and DANGEROUS!”. Many netizens, several of whom have identified the hotel, also expressed their shock that a well-established hotel would allow such terrible conditions. There were also comments from people urging the entrepreneur to bring this up to the hotel’s management as this issue is considered a health hazard.

However, the businesswoman also received some negative feedback regarding her posts. Some argued that Aleeya shouldn’t have posted the video if she didn’t want to mention the hotel’s name. Others debated the legitimacy of the situation, saying that Aleeya might have faked the videos to gain publicity for her company.
However, the mother of three denied the allegations, adding she would never place her kids in danger just for cheap publicity. Aleeya also said she had already forwarded the issue to the hotel management and merely shared the video as a reminder for the management and future guests.
Perhaps Aleeya’s videos will encourage the hotel to be stricter with their maintenance and stop this issue from happening again. What are your thoughts on this issue? Watch Aleeya’s videos below:
