We don’t condone crime nor violence – but when criminals self-incriminate themselves, it can be rather funny. Earlier this week, police arrested three teens for robbing a foreigner at Taman Connaught, Cheras with a knife.

According to Cheras deputy police chief Ridzuan Khalid, the trio, aged 14 to 15, were arrested on 10th January (Wednesday) after robbing a male foreigner at knifepoint the night before. The victim was left unharmed from the incident but lost around RM500. The suspects, all local schoolboys, were caught after the police conducted surveillance. The police chief said the case would be investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code but also noted that the suspects do not have any prior criminal records.

While the case seemed like a typical petty crime, what caught netizens’ attention was a video allegedly of the three suspects committing the act. The video was sent to a local news outlet by an unknown source and shows the suspects breaking into the victim’s home through the roof. The video, filmed by one of the suspects, also showed the three robbing the victim with a knife.

The video was shared on social media, leading to tons of reactions. Many netizens were unsurprisingly disappointed by the act, lamenting teenagers’ tendency to commit crimes without understanding the retribution and their tendency to film everything. However, some joked that filming the crime proves that the suspects are not so sharp, adding that it proves the importance of education.

Nevertheless, netizens condemned the action and hoped all three suspects would receive punishment for their crimes. While it’s unknown whether the suspects can be charged based on the video alone, it undeniably proves a lot.
