Yesterday (21st October), an explosion took place on the 9th floor of GM Plaza in Kuala Lumpur, during the servicing of air conditioners in the mall. It was said that the outburst happened while maintenance workers were doing the usual gas refill work for each unit.
The incident happened at roughly around 3:20pm, when firefighters received a call via the MERS999 system regarding the explosion. The Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue station immediately dispatched a team of seven, with Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Azrul Mat Zenan leading the crew.

Fortunately, there were only three victims from the incident and they merely sustained minor injuries. One of the injured is a local man who acts as the representative manager of the building, while the other two are Burmese men who work as contractors. Luckily for everyone, no fire broke out in the building. However, the occurrence did cause the ceilings on the 7th floor to collapse.
The wounded received further treatment by the public health services while the firefighters wrap up their work at GM Plaza with final safety checks. The situation was then handed over to the police for more investigation to be done.

We’re glad that nobody suffered severe injuries from this incident, and hope for a speedy recovery for the affected. Watch the video below for more insight regarding the case:
