The heartwarming story follows two childhood friends who reunite as neighbours in adulthood after years apart. Although it is no longer broadcast on screen, it remains one of the most memorable ads to this day, with many still able to recall the story and song by heart.
Some of you may not know this, but the ad was actually inspired by a true story about two friends, Raju and Salleh. You’ll be pleased to know that their friendship has stood the test of time. Recently, the duo enjoyed a heartwarming reunion at a Ramadan bazaar after decades apart.

Earlier this week, TikTok user @ferry.faridah.sal, or Cik Ferry, posted a video on her channel capturing her recent encounter at a Ramadan bazaar. The video showcased the unexpected reunion of Raju and Salleh, who had not seen each other for nearly 40 years. According to the post, the two friends went their separate ways in their youth in pursuit of a better life.
It’s said that many of their friends from their generation have long since passed away. Who would have thought they’d have the chance to meet once more after all these decades? From the footage, the duo were overjoyed to have run into each other at the bazaar, with plenty of catching up to do. Raju took the opportunity to commemorate the moment by taking a photo together.
