Universal & Six Flags May Take Over Genting’s Outdoor Theme Park

After Disney-Fox pulled out from Genting’s highly anticipated outdoor theme park which was slated to be opened in 2019, Malaysians everywhere are devastated as their long awaited dream has been crushed.

But this may not be the end for the almost completed theme park. New rumours have suggested that 2 companies are considering on taking over the project which was left by 20th Century Fox.

According to insiders via themeparX forum – the platform for construction updates of theme parks worldwide, Universal and Six Flags are in talks of picking up the baton.

The insider who is a crew member of Skytropolis and The Void has confirmed that “plans for 20th Century Fox is entirely cancelled and is abandoned until another company picks it up.”

It is unsure if the rumours are legit, but it would make sense if Universal decide to take over the project considering that Universal Studios Singapore is owned and operated by Genting Group. Thus, it is very likely for Genting to score another deal with Universal.

Meanwhile, for those of you who may not know, Six Flags is an amusement park company from United States and is the largest amusement park company in the world, based on the number of properties owned.

Back in 2015, there were rumours that Six Flags plan to break into Malaysian market and was seeking a partner to establish the brand here., The Edge Market reports.

The plan however fail to fall through for some reason, but it seems that with Fox World out of the picture, Genting may be interested to work with Six Flags and bring some of its wildest and fastest rides to Malaysia.

There is also an open letter from The Star, addressing to Nintendo director Shigeru Miyamoto, which proposed that Fox World should be replaced with Nintendo Land.

Many agreed with the letter and believed that it will be a great addition here as Genting is already host to Malaysia’s 1st Pokémon Festival.
