As the year slowly draws to a close, many have set their goals on achieving what they promised themselves at the start of the year. As for gamers, many are looking forward to various sales to be had on Steam, as it is well known that prices for popular and expensive games tend to drop dramatically in the latter half of the year.

If you’ve been meaning to buy Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag during any of these major sales, then you’ve unfortunately missed your chance, as Ubisoft has quietly pulled the game from the digital storefront, while other games from the franchise have been left untouched.

At the time of this writing, Ubisoft has come out of the woodwork to explain that the game had to be pulled from the store due to a technical issue. In an interview with Eurogamer, a Ubisoft spokesperson stated that “We are aware that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is currently unavailable for purchase on Steam. This is due to a technical issue, and our teams are working on a solution to bring it back as soon as possible.”

Due to a recent trend with the franchise, fans of Black Flag and others have speculated that a potential remaster is in the works and that the 2013 game has been pulled from the digital shelf to make room for it. However, Ubisoft has remained silent about these claims and speculations.

For those who have purchased the game and have it in their accounts, worry not, as it can still be downloaded, installed, and played like normal. Despite the fact that you cannot purchase the game anymore, you can still visit the Steam page and check the game out for yourself. Whether it will come soon or later is anyone’s guess.
