Good news, Uber users. If you reside in the Klang Valley, you can now pay for your Uber rides via cash!
Kuala Lumpur isn’t the first city to roll out cash payments: Johor Bahru was the first to kick off the feature, followed shortly by Ipoh and Penang.
Is paying cash the better alternative? While many passengers still prefer cashless transactions by card, Uber says that this option might appeal to first-time riders who are skeptical of using their credit cards or debit cars for online or mobile transactions.
“Credit cards are a common way to pay but many Malaysians still prefer transacting in cash so by rolling out this cash payment option in Klang Valley, we are hoping to provide Malaysians more choice and a payment option that suits their needs,” said Uber Asia Pacific communications director Amy Kunrojpanya.
For those paying by cash, choose the cash payment option when confirming your pickup location. Do note that if you don’t have exact change, the ride-sharing service will round up your fare to the closest ringgit. For example, if your ride is RM6.60, you will need to pay RM7.
