Sad news has come out of Hong Kong after it was announced that TVB J2 host Koba Man (文頌男) has passed away after succumbing to a rare form of cancer. He was only 29 years old.
Koba posthumously announced his death through his Instagram account on 13th July (Saturday). The post starts, “I’m so sorry, I have to tell you some heavy news. By the time everyone found this post, I had passed away”. The post then continues to talk about Koba’s battle with a rare form of cancer called “Ewing sarcoma”. Last year, Koba publicly revealed that he was diagnosed with the disease, garnering tons of attention from the public.

The media personality has been updating fans about his condition and treatment plans through his social media. Unfortunately, despite his relentless efforts, Koba’s condition continued to worsen, and he was admitted to a hospital in June 2024. By the time Koba wrote the post on 10th July, the cancer cell had spread to the rest of his body, causing him immense pain. Towards the end of the post, Koba thanked his family and friends for their continued support and concern for him during his treatment period.
Koba was best known for hosting TVB J2’s “Love Is (不正常爱情研究所)” but, before his death, the television host also appeared on the online radio programme “Simone (閃芒)”. The programme also posted an obituary notice for Koba on the 13th, extending their condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. “Simone” also revealed that, out of respect for Koba’s wish, there won’t be any public memorial or funeral arranged for his death.
Fans have taken to Koba’s post to mourn his death, sharing their sorrow for his passing. Fellow celebrities have also extended their condolences through social media, including actors Steven Ma (馬浚偉) and Benjamin Yuen (袁伟豪). Koba’s “Simone” co-host, Yanice Chan (陳栢昕), also shared a lengthy post on Instagram following his death, thanking him for being a good friend over the years and wishing the late star can finally rest in peace after a painful battle.

We extend our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Koba Man. May they find peace in this difficult time.
