Many Hong Kong stars have shared their love for Malaysia. However, actress Katy Kung (龔嘉欣) took it one step further, admitting she’s even open to being a “Malaysian daughter-in-law”.
The actress was recently in town for a press tour and did a few interviews with local media. Whilst talking to journalists, Katy opened up about her love life and her marriage plans. The 35-year-old admitted she’s still single but isn’t rushing to look for the right man to settle down with. However, her celebrity friends have tried introducing potential partners for her, hoping to see her get married and start a family soon.

Surprisingly, Katy said she’s also open to marrying a Malaysian man, adding she might even visit Malaysia more often to find a partner here. She also joked that she might reach out to fellow actress Priscilla Wong, who is well-acquainted with Malaysia, to introduce her to someone. The actress said, “I’ll ask her (Priscilla). She has made many friends in Malaysia. Maybe when the time comes, I will marry in Malaysia.”.
While it’s still too early to know if Katy will indeed be a “Malaysian daughter-in-law”, she wouldn’t be the only Hong Kong star to marry a local. Actor Andy Lau has been married to Malaysian-born model Carol Chu for nearly two decades, earning him the nickname, “Malaysian son-in-law”. While not from Hong Kong, Taiwanese star Ella Chen also married a Malaysian and often visits during the Chinese New Year festivities.

In the same interview, Katy also shared her love for Malaysian food. The actress said she had missed the local cuisine and got to eat bak kut teh and curry noodles while in town. Unfortunately, the star didn’t have much free time on this trip, so she said she’ll have to return to enjoy more local dishes. Katy also said she wants to check out the food scene in Penang and Malacca.
Katy does have a deep appreciation for Malaysia, so perhaps marrying a Malaysian isn’t impossible for the star. What do you think about this?
