You can’t go wrong with cheese. Unless you’re lactose intolerant.

Be it on pizzas, Hong Kong-style baked rice, spicy Korean ramyun, or pastas, the amount of food creations for cheese are endless. As food-loving Malaysians, we love cheese as much as we love our mum’s cooking. As the need for cheese continues to grow, it has become a staple ingredient for many eateries. Restaurants, cafes, and even street stalls have created their own cheesy delights, satisfying our cravings for the sinful goodness.

So enough of the chit-chat. Bid your diet goodbye with 8 of the cheesiest food in the Klang Valley:

(Warning: Visuals may cause major tummy growling)

1. Double Cheese Taiyaki @ Taiyakie Malaysia

While sweet red bean (azuki) paste is the most common filling for a Taiyaki (Japanese fish-shaped cake), Taiyakie Malaysia opted for a more savoury flavour – cheese 🙂

We highly recommend their double cheese croissant Taiyaki as its flaky pastry complements the ooey gooey cheese filling, which consists of premium cheddar and mozzarella imported from Belgium. Their ham and cheese is also a good choice for those who prefer something less overwhelming. However, if you’re not a cheesy person (pun intended), they also have other flavours such as chocolate banana and Japanese curry.

Taiyakie Malaysia kiosk is located at No. 77, Jalan SS15/8A, 47500 Subang Jaya.

For more information, visit Taiyakie Malaysia’s Facebook page.

2. Cheese Wheel Pasta @ Jekyll & Hyde

In case you didn’t know, a cheese wheel pasta is made when hot pasta is tossed around on a full round cheese partially hollowed out into a bowl. This way, the pasta will be evenly coated with cheese. Guess what? The delicious pasta is now available in town at Jekyll & Hyde!

From Hotel Stripes KL To Four Points By Sheraton: New Dining Promos To Check Out In KL!

The restaurant uses Grana Padano Cheese Wheel and the pasta comes in 2 types – Carbonara bacon with sundried tomatoes and Cognac Tomato Cream with prawns. We’re hungry as we write this ?

Jekyll & Hyde is located at G18 & G19, Empire Damansara, Jalan PJU 8/8, Damansara 47820.

For more information, visit Jekyll & Hyde’s Facebook page.

3. Fried Mozzarella @ Cafe Lafayette

Everything tastes better fried, even cheese!

Cafe Lafayette might just be the only place to get your fried cheese fix, period. The Italian-inspired eatery’s best-selling item is definitely the fried mozzarella. The sinful snack is made by stuffing fresh mozzarella into bread and coating it with breadcrumbs before frying it. Though the crispy snack is best eaten hot, be careful not to burn your tongue!

Cafe Lafayette is located at Jalan SS 21/1, Damansara Utama, 47400 Petaling Jaya.

For more information, visit Cafe Lafayette’s Facebook page.

4. Pisang Goreng Cheese aka Gorpis @ The Pisang Cheese

Pisang goreng (banana fritters) topped with shaved cheese? Oh yes!

Traditionally a crunchy deep-fried snack made of thinly sliced banana covered with batter, The Pisang Cheese has taken the sweet and crunchy local dessert to the next level by topping it with cheese. In addition, they have other flavours such as chocolate, caramel, cinnamon, white chocolate, and coffee.

Note: They offer delivery service around Klang Valley 🙂

The Pisang Cheese is located at Restoran Jamal Mohammed, 24, Jalan SS5A/9, Kelana Jaya, Selangor.

5. Cheese Pork Ribs @ Skewers

Inspired by one of South Korea’s most popular delicacies, Skewers is a cozy, casual joint that is home to the guiltily scrumptious cheese pork ribs. A video of the much-hyped dish went viral a few months ago and the restaurant is filled with customers trying to pull the longest cheese string every night since it was introduced in January.

Yes, your diet can wait ’cause the notorious combination of the tender pork ribs and cheese is surprisingly addictive.

Skewers is located at 11, Ground Floor, Jalan SS2/75, Petaling Jaya 47300.

For more information, visit Skewer’s Facebook page.

6. Mac and Cheese @ Milligram Cafe

Mac and cheese is comfort food at its best.

But what’s so special about Milligram Cafe’s version of the hearty meal? The answer is fresh herbs. Served with a golden egg on toast, the cafe’s bac (as in bacon) and cheese is combined with aromatic bacon slices and macaroni al dente that is baked to perfection. Don’t let the name of the restaurant fool you – the portion of their dishes are no where near “milli”.

Milligram Cafe is located at No 8, Jalan SS26/4, Taman Mayang Jaya, Petaling Jaya 47301.

7. Roti John Cheese Kilo @ Roti John 129

Ah, roti john, a Malaysian street food classic that is made of egg, bread, and minced meat. While roti means bread in Malay, the origin of “john” in the name is said to be the Western aspect of the recipe: baguette (long bread) and ketchup.

But Roti John 129 has made it into a street food legend when they introduced their must-try roti john cheese kilo. The dish comes with a generous amount of cheese, BBQ sauce, and mayonnaise. It may not be the healthiest of food choices, but it will most definitely be one of the yummiest.

Roti John 129 is located at Siam 129, 1, Jalan Teratai 1/2e, Taman Bukit Teratai, 56100 Kuala Lumpur.

8. Cheese Dakgalbi @ Mr. Dakgalbi

Dakgalbi is a popular Korean dish made by stir-frying marinated chicken in a gochujang (chili pepper paste) based sauce on a hot plate and it is cooked together with sliced cabbage, sweet potato, scallions, onions, and tteok (rice cake). While the dish already tastes good on its own, cheese makes it even more irresistible!

If that description tempts you, then you should try Mr. Dakgalbi’s cheese ring. Yes, you heard us right – a cheese ring filled with melted mozzarella cheese surrounding the spicy, succulent chicken meat. Yum 🙂

Note: There are other outlets located in different parts of Klang Valley as well.

Mr. Dakgalbi is located at 2, Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, 9, Jalan Radin Bagus, Sri Petaling, 57000 Kuala Lumpur.

For more information, visit Mr. Dakgalbi’s Facebook page.
